Anything after 1993 is derivative and not worth buying.

Joshua Tree was great.

Unforgettable Fire was, IMHO, even better.

War, October, and Boy are just simply "classic" (brilliant, genius).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1775890733129148208.post-79523554044312288212007-12-20T12:00:00.000-05:002007-12-20T12:00:00.000-05:00I noticed on the anniversary boxed set that they a...I noticed on the anniversary boxed set that they added 5 or so songs that never appeared on the Joshua Tree CD-Singles, nor during R&H timeframe, nor Actung. And a heck of a unique group - the wife, her high school friend, my best friend, a college friend and two colleagues. Wow. See you then, with "Red Hill" (a personal fave for me, too) ringing in my ears.

And, if I may, Hi, Maggie. Waiting for an album, going to the store, removing the plastic rap, watching every piece of dust cling to the album and wincing, and looking at the cover while listening to the album are all lost in today's digital age. The Globe's story on people sacrificing sound quality for convience of listening says a lot as well.

Thank for the memories of the Galleria, Sam Goody - "Goody's Got It!"- and my younger brother playing drums along with The Joshua Tree until the police bang on the door.T-Bonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11045781336721715257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1775890733129148208.post-87339314238923249182007-03-14T07:46:00.000-05:002007-03-14T07:46:00.000-05:00I knew nothing about U2 until I met Dave, and earl...I knew nothing about U2 until I met Dave, and early on found his obsession amusing and kind of cute. But then he brought me to my first U2 concert - and second - and I got a little insight into just why he was such a fanatic. They are truly an incredible band, their music is unparalleled, and Bono is probably the only guy on the planet who can make those wraparound glasses look damn sexy. Ultimately I gave into Dave's U2 fanaticism, and even look the other way each time they go on tour, letting him buy as many tickets as he possibly can, regardless of cost. If you ever want to see Dave in his most blissful happy place, tag along sometime.Heidi Guarinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01089994010361437246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1775890733129148208.post-91904062388195531982007-03-14T02:34:00.000-05:002007-03-14T02:34:00.000-05:00Oh my, that was quite a trip down Memory Lane! The chevette belonged to my boyfriend (who is now my husband), and it was a standard, so for the first three months that he owned the car I would panic whenever we approached a stop light at the top of a hill. I was convinced we were just going to roll back down and crash to our death. (But that's another story for a different day.) My favorite U2 album, Achtung Baby, came out several years later, in 1992. "One" was a favorite song of mine long before it inspired a global anti-poverty campaign. Of course, the band that provided the theme music to my late high school - college years was REM. I'd say more, but I fear I'd start to gush.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
